Ambra is established

Ambra is established as a higher education institution in the USA licensed by the Commission for Independent Education - Florida Department of Education to offer programs in Portuguese, helping the Brazilian community in Florida and strengthening and spreading the Brazilian culture beyond the physical borders of Brazil.

Mar/2013

Orlando City Soccer

Ambra is one of the official sponsors of the Orlando City Soccer in the 2013 season, helping the soccer team in a critical moment of its history when they were preparing to join the Major League Soccer – MLS.

May/2014

  • 01 Who licenses and inspects Ambra?
    Ambra University is licensed by the Florida Department of Education (FL-DOE) with license number CIE-4001.
    Ambra is annually inspected in depth by the Commission for Independent Education that is the commission in the FL-DOE responsible for private institutions located in Florida.
    The level of licensure that Ambra holds is the only legal requirement that an institution must have to award American postsecondary degrees.
  • 02 What is the number of "portaria" or act of licensure "credenciamento" of Ambra?
    The term in English that is equivalent to "credenciamento" (in Portuguese) is license. Licensing of private higher education institutions located in Florida is controlled by the Commission for Independent Education - Florida Department of Education.     Yes.
    Ambra is a higher education institution that is regulated in the United States of America. Each degree granting program that is offered has been individually evaluated and approved by the Florida Department of Education (License CIE-4001) in order to guarantee its quality.
  • 04 How often is Ambra inspected?
    Institutions located in the USA are constantly and proactively inspected by government agencies. In the case of institutions located in Florida, such as Ambra Univeristy, the Florida Department of Education (FL-DOE) performs annual onsite inspections on the institutions within its jurisdiction.
  • 05 What criteria are inspected by the Florida Department of Education?
    Annually, Ambra University and other Florida institutions are inspected by the FL-DOE in order to attest compliance with the following criteria: Name, Purpose, Administrative Organization, Educational Programs and Curricula, Recruitment and Admissions, Finances, Faculty, Library, Learning Resources, Information Services, Physical Facilities, Students Services, Publications and Advertising, and Disclosures.
  • 06 Is Ambra accredited?
    No.
  • 07 Is accreditation required to award American degrees?
    No.
    Accreditation is optional in the USA and licensure is the only legal requirement to award American degrees.
  • 08 What is the importance of accreditation?
    Accreditation is an important optional step that attests the quality of the institution by a non-governmental third party agency and, mainly, enables the institution to have access to the student Federal Financial Aid (Title IV). Ambra plans to apply for accreditation over the next years.
  • 09 Can I transfer credits from Ambra to another institution?
    There is a universal rule in regards to transfer of credits between schools: it will be at the discretion of the receiving school to accept or not any credits. Ambra has no agreement for transfer of credits with other institutions. If you consider transferring credits from Ambra to another institution, please contact the target institution in advance and ask if they would accept the transfer of credits.
  • 10 I would like to work at Ambra but I need sponsorship for a working visa. Can Ambra help me?
    We do not sponsor working visas.
  • 11 Does Ambra help with student visas (form I-20)?
    No. We are preparing our school to provide Form I-20 and we expect that to happen within a few years.
  • 12 Because Ambra teaches programs in Portuguese, is this a Brazilian institution?
    No. Ambra is a genuine American university licensed by the Florida Department of Education. We comply with American quality and education standards and our degrees are American.
  • 13 When opting to study online, do I have to go to Orlando?
    No. You can study 100% online.
  • 14 How are the examinations in the online course?
    Each term has 10 weeks and the student is constantly evaluated by the professor by a combination of oral test, group debate, assignments, questionnaires. All can be done through the Internet. Lear more..

    Yes and in a very efficient way! It is very unlikely that you have access to courses offered in Portuguese that are of better quality than what is offered by Ambra, should it be either online or on campus in Brazilian schools.     No! All faculty holds at least master’s of PhD and they act very closely to each student, as if they were a personal tutor. Because we are sure about the quality of our institution we offer a 1 month risk free trial .

    Live classes are previously scheduled. All live classes are recorded and made available to students during the academic term and the recorded version can be watched at any time.
  • 18 Does Ambra offer any scholarships, financial aid, or discounts?
    Ambra offers some options of partial scholarship including: Florida residents and family members of students and alumni. Contact us for more information.
  • 19 For being online, shouldn’t this program be cheaper?
    When designing our programs, we opted for quality instead of final price affordability. This option financially restricts access to many people. Our programs could be cheaper if we had opted to compromise quality. When compared to other American schools, our prices are very affordable.   • 20 I started this program at another institution, can I transfer credits to Ambra?
    In some cases, it is possible to transfer credits to Ambra, but transfers are limited to 40% of the program and credits earned at no more than 5 years ago at schools at the discretion of Ambra. Learn more..
